About Jayne London
Jayne London has a wealth of experience in helping graduate students reach their educational goals. She has spent the last 10 years working in the Graduate School at the University of Michigan as the Program Manager for Graduate Student Life. She has developed programs, publications and initiatives to help graduate students, in over 130 different departments, navigate their way through the various stages and challenges of graduate school. She also advises students who are seeking assistance with issues or concerns they face - most commonly issues related to working with their advisors.
Jayne has put together a comprehensive series of workshops at Michigan focusing on the professional and personal development of graduate students. These workshops include such topics as overcoming procrastination, optimizing the student-advisor relationship, developing a research topic, managing a dissertation, working with a committee, dealing with the imposter syndrome, and balancing work and life.
She is the main author of several UM publications including “How to Get the Mentoring You Want: A Guide for Graduate Students” and “How to Mentor Graduate Students: A Guide for Faculty Members.” Both of these publications are utilized at a number of other graduate schools across the United States.
